Thinking about bringing a Hydrow rowing machine into your home, but not sure if you have enough room? You’re not alone. One of the most common questions we get is: “Will a Hydrow fit in my space?” Whether you’re eyeing the Hydrow Pro or Hydrow Wave, knowing exactly how much space you’ll need can help you confidently decide where—and if—this fitness investment fits in.

Let’s break it down by model and storage options.

Hydrow Pro: Our original stunning design

Our larger model, the Hydrow Pro, is ideal for those with a bit more room to spare and looking for a smooth, studio-quality rowing experience, boasting a longer frame and wider base than its more compact counterpart, the Hydrow Wave.

How much space does the Hydrow Pro take up when in use?

  • Dimensions: 86" L x 25" W x 47" H

  • Seat Height: 16” from the floor

  • Screen Height: 47” from the floor

Hydrow rowers can shift forward slightly during high-intensity workouts, so we recommend at least 12 inches of clearance behind and in front—especially if you’re placing it near a wall, mirror, or window. Using an exercise mat underneath helps minimize movement.

How much space does the Hydrow Pro take up when stored vertically?

You can store your Hydrow Pro vertically between workouts with our Upright Storage Kit (sold separately), making it a space-saving option even in tighter home setups.

When stored upright, the Hydrow Pro dimensions are 86” H x 25” H x 33” L, roughly the footprint of a tall cabinet.

And, thanks to the built-in wheels on the front leg, it's easy to tilt and roll your Hydrow into position, whether you're tucking it against a wall or into a corner.

How much space does the Hydrow Pro take up when packaged for delivery?

When packaged for delivery, the Hydrow Pro arrives in a box measuring 91” L x 18” W x 33” H. The total weight comes in at 197 pounds, so while it’s hefty, the box is designed with inset handles to make it easier to lift and maneuver.

For safety and ease, we recommend having two people on hand to carry and unbox the Hydrow Pro when it arrives.

Hydrow Wave: Compact, lightweight, and apartment-friendly

The Hydrow Wave is our more compact model, designed with smaller spaces in mind. It’s a great fit for apartments, condos, or multipurpose rooms that need to pull double duty.

  • Dimensions: 80" L x 19" W x 43" H

  • Seat Height: 14" from the floor

  • Screen Height: 43" from the floor

The Wave takes up less space than a typical sofa when in use. That said, like the Hydrow Pro, you'll want to leave a little wiggle room. We recommend leaving at least one foot of clearance in front and behind the machine, especially for more intense rowing workouts.

How much space does the Hydrow Wave take up when stored upright?

When stored upright using our Hydrow Wave Vertical Anchor (sold separately), the Wave takes up a compact 82” H x 30” W x 26.5” L. That’s about the same footprint as a coat rack or floor lamp, making it perfect for tucking into a corner, next to a bookshelf, or alongside other furniture without overwhelming your space.

How much space does the Hydrow Wave take up when packaged for delivery?

When packaged for delivery, the Hydrow Wave comes in a box measuring 51” L x 20” W x 19” H.  Weighing 128 pounds, it’s relatively lightweight compared to other fitness equipment, and the inset handles make it manageable for two people to carry and maneuver into place.
