A complete at-home circuit training experience

We’ve got big news! We’re introducing a whole new way to work out with Hydrow: Circuit Training. This new Workout Type combines strength training and rowing for a full-body, high-intensity workout. With Circuit Training you’ll gain all the benefits of rowing—improved cardiovascular fitness and endurance—along with the added challenge of strength training exercises to build lean muscle, burn fat, and boost your metabolism. Plus, these new workouts are designed to be fast-paced, fun, and energetic, so it’ll be easier than ever to add variety to your routine.

Circuit Training workouts will be led by familiar face, Pete Donohoe, in addition to a brand-new Hydrow Athlete, Rina Thomas. Rina is a mom, Marine Veteran, and fitness expert ready to help you take your Circuit Training workouts to new heights.

Filter your Workout Type by Circuit starting Wednesday, January 11th.

Get fitter and faster with interval training

Circuit Training workouts are designed to be quick and effective full-body workouts that combine strength and rowing in a high intensity interval training (HIIT) format. The workouts primarily focus on strength training using a mix of dumbbells and bodyweight, with short periods of rowing mixed in. You can expect to rotate through targeted exercises followed by short periods of rest. Most workouts are structured in a rep-based AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) format or a time-based EMOM (every minute on the minute) format.

There are many benefits to this style of interval training, including increased strength and muscular endurance, heart health, improved mood, and fat loss. The workouts are also time efficient and versatile, increasing the odds that you'll stick with your routine long-term. No matter your fitness level, the tempo and intensity of these workouts makes them a challenging and rewarding experience for everyone.

Manteo Mitchell

Manteo is the unstoppable Olympian who continued to compete in the 4x400-meter relay after breaking his left fibula at the 200-meter and still brought home the silver medal.

He’s now training as a member of the U.S. Men’s Bobsled team and could become the 7th person in history to medal in both the summer and winter games, and the first African-American male to accomplish the feat!

His high-energy approach, matched with his larger-than-life sense of humor, makes for an incredibly motivating session every time.

New workouts, new stats

We know workout data is just one of many tools that you can use to help you achieve your fitness goals. After you finish a Circuit Training workout, you’ll be able to see your metrics for each interval on your workout summary screen. This will include meters, split, stroke rate, and watts for rowing intervals, as well as calories and heart rate (if you have an HRM) for both strength and rowing intervals. You can use this data to challenge yourself and see your progress over time. By tracking your performance, you can set goals and see how you're improving with each workout!

We can’t wait for you to give Circuit Training a try and see how it can help improve your overall health and fitness. Be sure to share your feedback with our team about your progress and experience with this new Workout Type!
