How does Hydrow’s 30-day risk-free trial work?

Accepted Answer

Hydrow offers new Members the opportunity to try a Hydrow rower or LYQUID platform risk-free for 30 days when purchased directly from the Hydrow website ([hydrow.com](http://hydrow.com)).

If you are eligible for Hydrow's home trial, you can try your rower and any additional accessories purchased with your Hydrow for up to 30 days after your delivery. If you're not satisfied with your Hydrow experience, simply contact Hydrow Member Services within 30 days of delivery, and we'll arrange a free pickup of your Hydrow rower. We’ll also provide a return shipping label for any accessories.

What is Hydrow’s return policy?

This return policy applies when you purchase directly from Hydrow AND you are not eligible for our Hydrow 30-Day Risk-Free Home Trial.

If you are not satisfied with your Hydrow product, you can request a return within 30 days after your delivery.

Because of the size and weight of the Hydrow products, we do not offer a refund for any shipping, delivery, or installation charges that you may have paid for your Hydrow delivery.

Returns will be charged an additional return shipping fee of $250, which will be deducted from the total amount of your refund.

If your Hydrow is returned in damaged condition or with missing parts, or otherwise shows signs of abuse, Hydrow reserves the right to refuse a refund or charge additional restocking fees.

What can I connect to Hydrow Products?

Question 6

Can you still use the Hydrow rowers without a subscription?

Accepted Answer

Membership is an integral part of the Hydrow experience and should not be considered an optional part of purchasing. Everything that makes Hydrow unique—including all of our premium workout content, progress tracking, and connected fitness elements—will require an active Hydrow Membership.

Hydrow rowers **without** an active membership will operate in [Just Row](https://support.hydrow.com/s/article/Just-Row-mode-FAQs-1651497396162) mode and have very limited functionality. This limited mode allows you to adjust your drag/resistance settings during workouts and displays on-screen rowing metrics during your workouts, but will not record your stats and achievements after your workouts are done. Just Row mode also includes Hydrow 101 tutorial videos and introductory material and allows for Bluetooth connection with heart rate monitors during workouts only.  
   
Features that are **not** available in Just Row mode include:

* All live and recorded workout videos  
* All music and workout audio (no music can be played without membership)  
* Any stored records of your progress  
* Any saved stats after a workout  
* Weekly Racing challenges with Hydrow's online community  
* Ability to appear to other users on the leaderboard  
* Streaming workouts via our Hydrow mobile app

If you choose to just row on a Hydrow without a subscription, do know that you can easily create a subscription later by clicking the “Activate” button on your Hydrow’s home screen.

How much does a Hydrow rower cost?

The cost of Hydrow rowers varies depending on which model you are looking to invest in:

Question 8

What shipping and delivery options are there for the Hydrow rowers?

Accepted Answer

Hydrow offers two shipping and delivery options:

1. **Standard delivery:** Your boxed Hydrow rower will be delivered to your porch or outside your front door. For multi-unit buildings, the Hydrow will be delivered to the building entrance, instead of to your unit's front door. This delivery option does not include unpacking, assembly, and removal of packing materials. You will also be notified of a four-hour delivery window.

*\*Hydrow Wave Rower offers a third option of expedited delivery service through a small-parcel carrier like FedEx.*

2. **Delivery and in-home assembly (additional charge):** Your Hydrow ships with in-home delivery, which includes placement in your room of choice, including up or down one flight of stairs inside your home, assembly, and removal of packaging. You will be notified of a four-hour delivery window for this option as well.

Can Hydrow rowers be stored upright?

The Hydrow Origin, Arc and the Hydrow Wave can be safely stored upright using their respective upright storage kits and anchors:

* The [Hydrow Wave Vertical Anchor](https://hydrow.com/products/accessories/hydrow-wave-vertical-anchor/) comprises two parts: a wall mount and a stand. The Hydrow Wave Rower upright footprint is 26.5" x 30" x 82".

How easy is it to assemble a Hydrow rower?

All three Hydrow models are designed to be assembled without professional assistance. However, we strongly suggest using two people during the assembly process. Please read all safety information and instructions in the [Hydrow User Guide (Manual)](https://support.hydrow.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028038572) before assembly and use. Failure to do so could result in injury, damage to your Hydrow, and invalidation of your warranty.

Question 12

Does Hydrow require power and internet?

Accepted Answer

The Hydrow Origin, Wave and Arc must be plugged in and powered on to enable their electromagnetic resistance mechanism. Without power, you will not feel any dynamic resistance.

Our resistance mechanism does not require an internet connection, but all workouts and screens (including the basic features of [Just Row mode](https://support.hydrow.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036372511)), do require an internet connection.

We very strongly recommend using Hydrow where a strong internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) is available. We recommend a dedicated 10 Mbps of bandwidth for Hydrow to ensure smooth streaming and a seamless connected-fitness experience. This should be well within the capability of most homes that use a Broadband internet service (cable, fiber, etc.)

Does LYQUID need to be professionally installed?

Nope! Professional installation is **not required**. LYQUID arrives ready to use with minimal assembly—simply unbox the machine, attach the power cord, and flip the power switch. Setup takes just a few minutes, and the on-screen guidance will walk users through calibration to ensure everything is ready for their first workout.  
While the process is straightforward, we **strongly recommend** having a second set of hands to help unbox and position the machine safely in its desired space.

What is React Mode, and how does it use isokinetic training?

Unlike traditional weights, which rely on gravity and vary in difficulty through different parts of a movement, React Mode responds directly to the user’s effort. The harder the push or pull, the greater the resistance—ensuring muscles are engaged evenly from start to finish.  
This constant-speed resistance means every phase of the lift, including the lowering or “eccentric” portion, delivers meaningful work. As a result, React Mode helps users build strength more efficiently, improve muscular control, and reduce the risk of injury. Independent studies show that just a few isokinetic reps can produce results comparable to many more repetitions of conventional strength training—making it an ideal approach for busy schedules and long-term progress.  
During the first React Mode workout, users are coached through the mechanics of isokinetic movement step by step. How does LYQUID ensure a safe and supported strength training experience?

LYQUID is engineered with intelligent safety systems designed to support users throughout every workout. Safety begins with a Baseline Workout, which sets personalized resistance levels to ensure all weight recommendations are tailored to the individual’s capabilities. This foundation helps prevent overexertion and promotes steady, effective progress.  
During each lift, Spotter Mode actively monitors performance in real time. If the system detects that a user is struggling to complete a rep, it will automatically reduce the resistance, allowing the user to safely finish their set without compromising form. This ensures the workout stays challenging but never unsafe.  
In addition to Spotter Mode, LYQUID includes built-in safeguards that detect when something doesn’t look right—such as uneven movement or motion outside the expected range. When triggered, these safeguards automatically end the set and remove resistance, ensuring the user can step away safely and confidently.  
These features are introduced and coached during the first guided workout, and every movement begins with a Range of Motion calibration. This allows LYQUID to understand the user’s movement pattern and activate the right safety response at the right time.

Will the cables coming out of the base limit the range of exercises?

Accepted Answer

No. While the cables come out of the base of LYQUID, they do not limit the effectiveness or variety of exercises. Our Athletes have intentionally designed and modified movements that activate the same muscle groups as traditional free-weight and overhead cable exercises. Although certain classic overhead moves (like lat pulldowns) aren’t performed from a floor-based anchor point, the same muscles are worked through alternative bench- and ground-based movements, delivering a full-body, well-balanced, and highly effective workout.

LYQUID currently supports over 300 varied exercises that let you train your entire body in one system—from targeted strength work to dynamic, full-body movement.   
For example, upper-body options include presses, rows, curls, flys, and triceps work. Lower-body training spans squats, lunges, deadlifts, hip drives, and calf raises. Core work ranges from planks and side bends to rotational lifts, and full-body movements like thrusters, low-to-high lifts, bear crawls, and plank variations tie everything together for efficient, well-rounded workouts.
