A Stroke of Greatness: Christie Wang

What does #AStrokeOfGreatness mean to you?

A Stroke Of Greatness means putting in the work, one step at a time, towards your goals.

How did you choose Pilates?

I’ve been teaching Pilates since 2013 and have been a full-time instructor in 2017. Prior to teaching Pilates, I worked in advertising and marketing as a program manager.

I’m a passionate runner, and discovered the Pilates studio that I’m currently certified at while on a run! At the time, I was training for my first half marathon and was looking for something to help with cross-training and working muscles that might be missed. It’s crazy how I literally stumbled into the studio and found my calling!

I went through the National Pilates Certification Program, became Barre certified, and most recently, I got my certification as a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (check out some of my Prenatal Pilates workouts in the on-demand library!).

What is your proudest athletic achievement?

Running my first marathon was a huge achievement. Coming from a non-athletic background, I never believed a marathon was possible for me. Crossing that finish line helped me believe in myself as an athlete.

What type of work went into where you are today?

I train almost daily in Pilates or running, and eat healthy to fuel my body. There’s nothing incredibly special about what I do -- it’s just the commitment to doing everything regularly and consistently.

What sets Hydrow apart from other teams that you have been on?

What’s your personal motto?

Go after hard things. Dream big. Be true to yourself.
