Thinking about bringing a Hydrow rowing machine into your home, but not sure if you have enough room? You’re not alone. One of the most common questions we get is: “Will a Hydrow fit in my space?” Whether you’re eyeing the Hydrow Arc, Hydrow Origin, or Hydrow Wave, knowing exactly how much space you’ll need can help you confidently decide where—and if—this fitness investment fits in.

Let’s break it down by model and storage options.

How much space does the Hydrow Arc take up?

A graphic showing the dimensions of a Hydrow Arc rowing machine.

The Hydrow Arc is ideal for those with a bit more room to spare, boasting a longer frame and wider base than its more compact counterpart, the Hydrow Wave. The Hydrow Arc also has a larger screen than our other two models.

How much space does the Hydrow Arc take up when in use?

  • Dimensions: 86" L x 25" W x 48" H

  • Seat Height: 16” from the floor

  • Screen Height: 48” from the floor

Hydrow rowers can shift forward slightly during high-intensity workouts, so we recommend at least 12 inches of clearance behind and in front—especially if you’re placing it near a wall, mirror, or window. Using an exercise mat underneath helps minimize movement.

How much space does the Hydrow Arc take up when stored?

You can store your Hydrow Arc vertically between workouts using our Upright Storage Kit (sold separately), making it possible to invest in our larger machine even in tight home setups.

When stored upright, the Hydrow Arc’s dimensions are reduced to 86” H x 25” H x 33” L, roughly the footprint of a tall cabinet.

And, thanks to the built-in wheels on the front leg, it's easy to tilt and roll your Hydrow into position, whether you're tucking it against a wall or into a corner.

How much space does the Hydrow Arc take up when packaged for delivery?

When packaged for delivery, the Hydrow Arc arrives in a box measuring 91” L x 18” W x 33” H. The total weight comes in at 197 pounds, so while it’s hefty, the box is designed with inset handles to make it easier to lift and maneuver.

For safety and ease, we recommend having two people on hand to carry and unbox the Hydrow Arc when it arrives.

How much space does the Hydrow Origin take up?

Our original rower model, the Hydrow Origin, is the same size as the Hydrow Arc, and larger than the more compact Hydrow Wave.

How much space does the Hydrow Origin take up when in use?

  • Dimensions: 86" L x 25" W x 47" H

  • Seat Height: 16” from the floor

  • Screen Height: 47” from the floor

Remember, we recommend 12 inches of clearance behind and in front of your rower in case it shifts during higher-intensity workouts.

How much space does the Hydrow Origin take up when stored vertically?

The Hydrow Origin can also be stored vertically between workouts using our Upright Storage Kit (sold separately). Same as the Arc, storing your Hydrow Origin upright will reduce its dimensions to 86” H x 25” H x 33” L.

How much space does the Hydrow Origin take up when packaged for delivery?

Same as the Hydrow Arc, your Hydrow Origin will arrive in a box measuring 91” L x 18” W x 33” H and will weigh 197 lbs.

Hydrow Wave: Compact, lightweight, and apartment-friendly

The Hydrow Wave is our more compact model, designed with smaller spaces in mind. It’s a great fit for apartments, condos, or multipurpose rooms that need to pull double duty.

How much space does the Hydrow Wave take up when in use?

  • Dimensions: 80" L x 19" W x 43" H

  • Seat Height: 14" from the floor

  • Screen Height: 43" from the floor

The Wave takes up less space than a typical sofa when in use. That said, like the Hydrow Arc and Origin, you'll want to leave a little wiggle room. We recommend leaving at least one foot of clearance in front and behind the machine, especially for more intense rowing workouts.

How much space does the Hydrow Wave take up when stored upright?

When stored upright using our Hydrow Wave Vertical Anchor (sold separately), the Wave takes up a compact 82” H x 30” W x 26.5” L. That’s about the same footprint as a coat rack or floor lamp, making it perfect for tucking into a corner, next to a bookshelf, or alongside other furniture without overwhelming your space.

How much space does the Hydrow Wave take up when packaged for delivery?

When packaged for delivery, the Hydrow Wave comes in a box measuring 51” L x 20” W x 19” H.  Weighing 128 pounds, it’s relatively lightweight compared to other fitness equipment, and the inset handles make it manageable for two people to carry and maneuver into place.
