The Hydrow Pro, Hydrow Wave, and Hydrow Core are powerful pieces of connected, at-home rowing machines that offer full-body, low-impact workouts, making them ideal for athletes and fitness enthusiasts of virtually all levels and abilities.

However, what truly elevates Hydrow above other at-home workout machines on the market is Hydrow’s membership experience, which gives you access to more than 5,000 rowing, yoga, Pilates, mobility, circuit training, and strength training workouts from iconic destinations and waterways around the world.

But how much does a Hydrow membership cost, and what exactly is included?

If you’re looking to take the Hydrow membership experience for a test drive, a Digital Basic Hydrow membership will give you access to our on-demand workout library. You don’t need a Hydrow rower to take advantage of this subscription option, but keep in mind that you’ll have access to the on-demand workout library only and you’ll be limited to one profile.

The Digital Basic Membership is available for both Android and iOS devices.

What’s included with a Hydrow membership?

Your all-inclusive Hydrow membership will give you access to a variety of workout options, all filmed on hundreds of breathtaking waterways around the world—from the Charles River in Boston to the Thames in the heart of London.

These workouts include:

  • Thousands of live and on-demand rowing workouts that cater to all paces, experience levels, and schedules.

  • Workouts ranging in intensity from foundational cardio workouts for beginners to high-intensity interval training (HIIT) rowing workouts to push you to your limits.

  • Both guided and unguided Journey rowing workouts that allow you to explore and move at your own pace through scenic waterways.

  • Distance rows between 250 and 10,000 meters that let you test your performance and hit new milestones.

Each workout is led by a member of our diverse team of world-class and Olympic Athletes, who will coach you through your workout and provide you with the motivation and guidance you need to improve your rowing game. You’ll feel like you’re learning from the best rowers in the world while rowing alongside a close friend.

Additional membership benefits include:

  • A wide range of yoga, Pilates, strength training, circuit training, and mobility workouts.

  • Fitness challenges and badges to keep you motivated to row throughout the year.

  • A dynamic history of your workouts, progress, statistics, and more.

  • Connection to the Hydrow community. Get inspired by each other, take part in team challenges, and cheer each other on as you reach new milestones.

  • Access to all Hydrow workout content through the Hydrow app on iOS and Android

Given the immersive and community-based nature of the Hydrow membership, it’s an essential part of the Hydrow experience. Our membership is designed to meet you where you are—with an equally human experience that supports you at every step along your journey, at your pace.

Can you use a Hydrow without purchasing a Hydrow membership?

Man works out on a Hydrow rowing machine by pulling the handle.

There are two ways to use your Hydrow machine without a membership. For a limited time, you can purchase our Hydrow Core rower, which includes 30 self-guided rows through stunning destinations with no membership required.

You can also use your Hydrow Pro or Wave without a membership with our “Just Row” mode, which allows you to simply use your machine. “Just Row” mode includes:

  • Adjustable drag and resistance setting during workouts

  • "Hydrow 101" videos and introductory material

  • On-screen rowing metrics during workouts

  • Bluetooth connection for heart rate monitors only

Keep in mind that “Just Row” mode isn’t a feature so much as it’s a lack of features, so we don’t encourage the purchase of a Hydrow without a Hydrow Membership.

Using your Hydrow in “Just Row” mode will prohibit access to all live and recorded workout videos, the ability to play any music or audio, storage of your workouts or progress, saved statistics about your workouts, leaderboard ranking, streaming workouts, and more.

Is the Hydrow membership worth it?

Hydrow Athlete Pete leads a mobility workout from Italy, a workout that is included in a Hydrow membership.

The Hydrow membership is certainly an additional investment beyond the cost of your rowing machine, but according to our members, it’s worth it.

“Not only is the kit of excellent quality, the streaming content is also excellent and the instructors are engaging and fully supportive, which keeps you coming back to row day after day and really going for it,” says Hydrow member Jon. “Ditch the gym membership and buy one of these instead.”

Another member, Grant, says, “Yes, the membership fee isn’t trivial, but given the wide range of workout types (both on the rower and on a mat), it is worth the price and I feel like I am getting a real value. Yes, gym memberships can be comparable—but I always found myself looking for excuses to not go to the gym. I don’t have that problem with Hydrow.”

Hydrow member Robert says he appreciates the community aspect of Hydrow from his home in remote Alaska.

“Because none of the people where I live row, I don’t have an immediate community of people with similar interests,” he says. “The support and kindness of the Hydrow community and home athletes helps me stay motivated and connected to my goals. When I struggle to find motivation, I turn to the leaderboard and look for similar names who will push me to bring my best self to my workouts. This is the best part of Hydrow and something irreplaceable.”
